Aneal's Taste Of The Islands Reviews
My friend and I tried the chicken roti and shrimp roti today and it was absolutely delicious! I customized my order by asking for the shrimp and the roti shell to be separated, which was perfectly accommodated. The flavors were incredibly authentic and packed with Caribbean goodness. Every bite was a taste sensation! If you're a fan of roti or Caribbean cuisine, this is a MUST TRY. Highly recommend!
The mac and cheese was rich, cheesy, and soft, with perfectly balanced seasoning and just the right amount of spice and herbs. The meat was tender and delicious, making every bite enjoyable. Portions were very generous, and if you’re craving comforting, flavorful Caribbean food, this spot is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be coming back to try more (and of course, for the mac and cheese again)
I had the large stewed chicken from Aneal's Taste of the Islands, and let me tell you—this was true home-cooked Caribbean comfort at its finest. Every bite was rich with authentic, slow-cooked flavor, just like something you'd get straight from a Caribbean kitchen. The seasoning was spot on, the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the portions were more than generous. But what really set this place apart was the exceptional customer service. Caribbean food spots don’t always get recognized for their service, but Aneal’s is different. The staff were warm, welcoming, and truly made you feel like family from the moment you walked in. They take pride in their food and their hospitality, and it shows. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean food with amazing service, this is the spot. Aneal’s Taste of the Islands is a gem in Toronto, and I’ll definitely be back!
On Fridays and Saturdays they have specials, not on the usual menu! Today we had stewed wild boar and catfish with the mac & cheese. Every bite was a delight, packed full of authentic island flavors, and cooked to perfection. The owner is so passionate and friendly, you can see why this place is beloved by the locals. Richmond Hill might not be known for this kind of cuisine, but having lived all around the GTA I can say with confidence this place holds up against the best that Kensington or Scarborough have to offer
I got the Mac n Cheese combo with jerk chicken, BBQ chicken, and Ox tail. I love how the chicken were so tender and not dry. The chicken were super flavorful, but I still felt it lack something for a jerk chicken. The oxtail I felt it was a little hard/dry. The coleslaw was good, but felt it was lacking something, maybe more acidity. The portions were very good. Service was good, they brought the food to our table which I was not expecting, but very happy since we ordered quite a bit.
The food is amazing. We tried the jerk chicken with macaroni and cheese and curry chicken roti. The jerk chicken was very flavourful, 9/10, the only difference might be chicken in Jamaica would be smoked with pimento wood. But this is as good as it can get here so no complaints whatsoever. Now move on to the mac and cheese, I’m not a big fan of mac and cheese but this is the best I have had in a long while. The coleslaw was also fresh and creamy. The roti was awesome. Also had the honour to try some curried goat and some pork and they were both very nice. I’m so happy to have found a place that I can return many times. And by the way, when they say spicy, they mean it, it’s proper proper habanero spicy. In my opinion it could be even better with a bit more sweet and sour elements to it. But it is very good as it is. The music in the store is also Jamaican jam and the volume is just right. Unlike some that is way too loud, this makes you feel like you are on an island while you can still have a conversation. Very nice.
Aneal is THE man. I tried this spot out for the first today and have nothing but good things to say. 1. Obviously the food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Thigh and Leg with rice and the meat was so tender, had that perfect Carribean seasoning while the rice and coleslaw were so flavourful and complimented it well. 2. The price. I paid exactly 16 (cash though) for such a filling and great value meal. No tax charge if you pay via cash as the "discount". 3. The service. I was shocked at how fast my food arrived after I placed my order and the quality did not take any sacrifices. Aneal himself checked up on me to make sure I was good and was so attentive when I asked for more utensils/water. He's just such a sick and chill guy. LOL. Keep up the great work.
Nothing beats the combination great food, great atmosphere, and great staff! The owner Aneal went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with our meal! It was so worth the 45 minute drive! We will definitely come back!
